NSB is first and foremost a classical ballet training school. Ballet provides the technical foundation upon which nearly every other dance form can build: alignment, strength, coordination, musicality, discipline, body awareness, and a clear technical vocabulary. From that strong foundation, our dancers have opportunities to expand their training into contemporary, lyrical, jazz, acrobatic dance, tap, hip hop, and more. This balance of rigorous classical training and well-rounded dance education is central to the NSB philosophy.

We believe children rise when they are both challenged and supported. We believe excellent instruction and kindness belong in the same classroom. We believe dancers can be taught discipline without losing their joy, corrected without being diminished, and challenged without being compared to everyone around them. Whether a child dances recreationally for a few wonderful years, pursues dance in college, or ultimately enters the professional world, the qualities developed through excellent dance education, such as confidence, perseverance, discipline, creativity, resilience, artistry, and a strong work ethic, can stay with them long after they leave the studio.
Experienced & Professional Faculty
Exceptional training requires exceptional teachers. Our students are taught by an accomplished adult professional faculty with extensive backgrounds in dance performance, education, choreography, and student instruction. NSB faculty members hold specialized certifications and training from internationally recognized organizations and institutions including American Ballet Theatre’s National Training Curriculum, the Bolshoi Ballet Academy, Progressing Ballet Technique, Acrobatic Arts, and more. Those credentials matter because knowing how to dance and knowing how to teach children to dance safely and effectively are not the same thing. Our curriculum is intentionally designed around the developmental, physical, and emotional needs of our dancers, from their very first class through advanced pre-professional training.
A Purposeful Curriculum
NSB does not approach dance education as a collection of individual classes. Our students progress through a carefully developed, graded curriculum in which skills build intentionally from one level to the next. We believe excellent training should be both age-appropriate now and purposeful for what comes next as dancers gradually progress into advanced levels.
Performance Opportunities
We believe performing can be an invaluable part of a dancer’s education, and provides an opportunity for students to demonstrate the culmination of the skills learned in their weekly classes. NSB offers annual productions, student showcases, community performances, competitions, conventions, master classes, and additional performance opportunities depending upon program and eligibility.
