WHERE: North State Ballet studios at 2400 Notre Dame Blvd, Chico CA

WHAT TO KNOW:
Pre-registration is strongly encouraged and will open July 1, 2026, and will close August 1, 2026.
Starting July 1, pre-registration forms will be available at the NSB front desk or via email. Contact us (after July 1) to request an emailed copy of the form. Audition fee payments and audition forms must be turned in at the front desk in person; e-mailed forms will not be accepted.

  • Pre-registered dancers will pay a $30 CASH audition fee when their paperwork is turned in (non-refundable). Payment amount must be exact; change will not be available. Credit cards or charges to NSB accounts are not permitted.

  • Dancers who do not pre-register can still attend the August 16 audition, but must pay a $40 CASH audition fee on the day of (non-refundable). Payment amount must be exact; change will not be available. Credit cards or charges to NSB accounts are not permitted.

Auditions are closed to any viewers; dancers must be dropped off/picked up in the lobby area.

Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your audition start time to check in and perform a self-warm up in the lobby area.

Auditions will include both ballet and contemporary.

Attending the audition is not a commitment to perform. Students will have the option to accept or deny their role(s) after casting is complete.

Make-up or video auditions will not be accepted. All dancers wishing to perform must attend the in-person audition on August 16th at their designated time.

Rehearsals will take place at NSB studios and will begin in September 2026.

Performances will be held November 27-29, 2026 at the Paradise Performing Arts Center (777 Nunneley Rd, Paradise CA). Tech Week will also be held at the theater the week prior (November 21-27, excluding Thanksgiving Day).

NOTE:Audition end times as outlined below are approximate; dancers may be released early and parents/guardians should plan to be available for pick up at that time. Some dancers may also be asked to stay for a later audition category. Ages determined as of October 1, 2026.

Ages 6-8, or beginning level dancer: 11:00a-12:15p

  • Girls’ Attire: black leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes, hair secured in a ballet bun

  • Boys’ Attire: white shirt/leotard, black tights/dance shorts, black or white socks, black ballet shoes

  • Black fitted dance shorts may be worn over top of the ballet attire for non-ballet genres if desired.

Ages 9-11, or older dancer with no pointe experience: 12:45p-2:15p

  • Girls’ Attire: black leotard, pink tights, pink ballet shoes, hair secured in a ballet bun. Pointe shoes, where applicable, should be brought as well.

  • Boys’ Attire: white shirt/leotard, black tights/dance shorts, black or white socks, black ballet shoes

  • Black fitted dance shorts may be worn over top of the ballet attire for non-ballet genres if desired. Black Bullet Pointe dance skirt may be worn with pointe shoes.

Ages 12+, or advanced level dancer with pointe experience: 2:45p-4:45p

  • Girls’ Attire: black leotard, pink tights, pink pointe shoes, pointe shoes, hair secured in a ballet bun

  • Boys’ Attire: white shirt/leotard, black tights/dance shorts, black or white socks, black ballet shoes

  • Black fitted dance shorts may be worn over top of the ballet attire for non-ballet genres if desired. Black Bullet Pointe dance skirt may be worn with pointe shoes.
